Bluence operates through three interconnected lines of action that combine storytelling, entrepreneurship, ocean governance, and citizen engagement as levers for sustainable transformation.
We co-create content and tools that help communities share their stories, strengthen their local economies, and contribute to a broader shift in how we understand, relate to, and protect ocean and freshwater ecosystems.
Inspiring action, peer-to-peer learning, and awareness of how climate change connects our regions
This is Bluence’s narrative and community exchange line of work.
We co-create micro media capsules based on lived experiences and local solutions shared by coastal, riverine, and mangrove communities across the Global South. These stories are shared back with the communities and distributed through partner networks. They function as tools for peer learning, citizen engagement, and global awareness, supporting media for climate change, education, and visibility.
We embrace both intergenerational and transgenerational storytelling, uplifting traditions, ancestral knowledge, and emerging voices to build emotional connection, cultural continuity, and behavioral shifts toward sustainability.
Pilot is underway in India, Zambia, and Peru, fully funded by Bluence and co-developed with local partners.
This is a collaborative initiative, and we’re bringing more voices on board! We welcome aligned organizations interested in contributing or amplifying this work: global.voices@bluence.org
Supporting small businesses that care for oceans, rivers, mangroves, and the people who depend on them
This is Bluence's economic development line of work.
We support small and micro enterprises rooted in coastal, river, and mangrove territories, particularly those historically left out of formal support systems. Our work focuses on entrepreneurship training and support, sustainable product development, and business models connected to water, biodiversity, and cultural identity.
We see entrepreneurship not just as a source of income, but as a pathway to local empowerment, environmental care, women's economic autonomy, and social justice. We believe women and youth are key agents of change in building a more just and resilient blue economy.
Pilot is evolving in Peru and Colombia. This is a flexible and resource-conscious initiative, designed to grow with aligned collaboration.
We welcome like-minded allies to contribute, support, or join the journey: blue.ventures@bluence.org
Education, awareness, and citizen engagement to anticipate risks in coastal territories
This is Bluence’s preventive ocean governance line of work.
We focus on education, awareness, and citizen engagement to help anticipate and reduce environmental and social risks linked to economic activities in coastal and marine territories. Our approach emphasizes early action, informed dialogue, and shared responsibility.
We work as a bridge between coastal communities, private and public actors, translating complex ocean-related challenges into accesible knowledge and participatory tools. By strengthening understanding and engagement early on, this line of work supports collaborative decision-making, conflict prevention, and more resilient ocean governance.
This line of work is currently being explored in Peru, with a focus on emerging port and shipping contexts.
We welcome others interested in engaging with this initiative: ocean.governance@bluence.org
